Israel blasts UN rights envoy

Friday 26 October 2012

Israel and the US demanded the removal of the UN special rapporteur on human rights in Palestine because of bias today.

Peter Falk called on Wednesday for a boycott of all companies that deal with settlement in the occupied territories.

Mr Falk presented a report to the UN saying that a number of Israeli and multinational corporation in the US, Europe and Mexico were violating international law by illegally exploiting Palestinian resources.

Israel called the report "grossly biased."

"Israel is deeply committed to advancing human rights and firmly believes that this cause will be better served without Falk and his distasteful sideshow," claimed Israeli spokeswoman Karaen Peretz.

And US ambassador Susan Rice called Mr Falk "highly biased" and his appeal for a boycott "irresponsible and unacceptable."
