Trades unionists in Sheffield are to stage a demonstration in support of anti-austerity strike action planned across Europe on November 14.
A general strike will take place in Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus and Malta on November 14 as unions launch action on an international scale against cuts caused by the banking sector scandal.
Sheffield Trade Union Council is organising a sympathy rally at the city's town hall in solidarity with the strikers.
"A European general strike is a real step forward in the battle against cuts and austerity," said the TUC.
