This was a significant event involving a significant proportion of Lewisham's population.
I am also pleased that you didn't publish the inflated estimate of 15,000 marchers that has been circulating.
Leftists have a bad habit of systematically exaggerating the numbers involved in protests and by doing so they fool nobody but themselves. It's encouraging that the Star has set a good example by breaking with this practice.
However, it would have been nice if you had the space to give the more objective estimate of 8,000 for those entering Ladywell Fields for the rally.
But never mind, the Star did carry a report. The Guardian, by contrast, ignored the whole event.
