Trade unionists demonstrated at the office of Tory Euro-MP Robert Sturdy today in protest at his support for a European trade deal with Colombia.
The Cambridge-based MEP has prompted anger by leading a campaign to ratify a European Union/Colombia free trade agreement in the European Parliament on Tuesday next week, despite the murders of hundreds of trade union activists by death squads.
GMB international officer Bert Schouwenburg said: "It's appalling that the EU seems willing to adopt a free trade agreement with Colombia, a country where 225 trade unionists have been murdered in the past five years."
