The government's squeeze on council budgets is having a devastating impact on one of the poorest areas in London, Haringey TUC warned today.
Haringey TUC said a change of political direction is required for 2013 if ordinary people in the north London borough are to avoid a miserable new year.
The group said government-enforced cuts to council spending, coupled with trials in the area of the controversial Universal Credit cap on benefits, will create a "double whammy" of hardship in Tottenham, which already has the highest number of jobless in London.
