Gaza aid ship survivor to meet activists

Friday 04 January 2013

A survivor of the Israeli attack on the Mavi Marmara humanitarian aid ship to Gaza will be guest speaker at the annual meeting of Rochdale Palestine Solidarity Campaign, writes Peter Lazenby.

International peace activist Parveen Yakub was on board the ferry on May 30 2010, when it was attacked by Israeli naval forces in international waters on its way to deliver aid to the beleaguered Gaza Strip.

Nine supporters of Palestine were killed and dozens more injured.

Mr Yakub is now involved in the prosecution case being made against the Israeli commander of the operation.

  • The Rochdale meeting takes place on Monday January 14, at 7.15pm at Crescent Radio Centre, 1, Devon Street, Rochdale.
