A national fightback has been launched against "the great fuel robbery" that is pushing more households into fuel poverty while the big six energy companies rake in super-profits.
Campaign group Fuel Poverty Action has called for those sick and tired of paying sky-high bills to set up "fuel bill assemblies" across the country, where people can speak about how they are affected by them.
A spokesman said one in four families struggle with the impossible choice between heating and eating in Britain while the big six - British Gas, EDF, E.On, Npower, Scottish Power and SSE - continue to raise bills to make huge profits in a price-fixed energy market rigged in their favour.
The proposed assemblies would be held during the weekend of February 15 to 18 under the banner Stop The Great Fuel Robbery.
