Ban blacklist firms from all public work

Saturday 12 January 2013

How refreshing to read (M Star January 5) that Hull City Council had decided to ban blacklisting companies from securing work from council contracts.

I totally agree with Dave Smith of the Blacklist Support Group that many more local councils should follow suit.

Almost all of the 40 companies that used a blacklisting agency are major players in the construction industry.

These are the companies that want to obtain large government projects including power stations, hospitals, railways, schools etc.

Wouldn't it be nice if the government told these companies that no blacklisting firms will be allowed to tender for projects that involve any government finance and taxpayers' money?

Obviously I wouldn't recommend you hold your breath waiting for this or any other government to act on this matter.
