An intelligence official said today that a French hostage held by Islamic militants was probably killed during a bungled rescue attempt.
The French spy, code-named Denis Allex, was probably killed by his captors along with a French commando, said the agent.
Militant group al-Shabab said its hostage is still alive and it had also captured a wounded French soldier.
