A train fire shut down one of London's busiest stations in the morning rush hour today.
Smoke poured from the engine of a Gatwick Express train at Victoria, which was evacuated as firefighters put out the blaze.
National Rail said the train was empty and no-one was hurt.
The station was shut until 7.45am.
RMT general secretary Bob Crow said: "This incident once again shows up the ever-present dangers on Britain's railways and the need for adequate numbers of safety trained staff to handle emergency and evacuation situations.
"The government should pull back from their cash-led plans to axe train and station staff."
