Rangers midfielder Ian Black says league reform plan is a 'slap in the face'

Gers winger reveals players’ anger
Friday 25 January 2013

Scottish football: Rangers winger Ian Black has described the new 12-12-18 league structure proposed by the SPL and SFL as a “slap in the face” for him and his team-mates.

The Gers are runaway leaders in the Scottish Third Division, but, under the plans, would still start next season in Scotland’s lowest tier.

He said: “Speaking on behalf of the boys, but mainly myself, I think for them to change that after the punishment we have taken already, it’s basically just another slap in the face for us.”

He added: “If any other team below us won the league I’m sure they would be upset. If we win the league and we have to stay down there it’s going to be really hard to take.”

Lee McCulloch will miss Rangers’ match against Montrose at Ibrox on Saturday with an ankle injury.

Striker Francisco Sandaza is set to play after recovering from a facial injury, but long-term absentee Kevin Kyle is still out.
