Lambeth Council to warn public against cuts

Wednesday 30 January 2013

Lambeth Council leader Lib Peck launched a campaign today to warn of the devastating effect the government's benefit cuts will have on tens of thousands of the London borough's residents.

Posters will be put up around Lambeth, including in schools, children's centers and doctors' surgeries.

The council will hold advice evening and send letters to locals.

Cllr Peck said one in six Lambeth residents would be affected.

"Thousands of residents, many of whom are in work, will see their weekly incomes cut.

"Cuts to benefits will force hundreds of families to move away from areas where they have support networks and children in school."
