Not in Tory back yards
Thursday 31 January 2013
I note that opposition to plans to extend High Speed Rail - which is surely better than further high speed roads particularly on the 50th anniversary of the Beeching report - has been following the lines of many nineteenth century complaints about railway building.
The rich and powerful do not like railways crossing their land now, anymore than they did then. If dwellings of ordinary people are to be swept aside as well, rather less will be said.
