Lecturers will strike at a West Midlands college next week over the sacking of four colleagues, the lecturers' union UCU said today.
UCU members at Halesowen College have won widespread public support in a campaign to reinstate their colleagues.
They will strike next Thursday and deliver a giant Valentine's Day card containing a 12,000-strong petition to the college.
Maths lecturer and UCU branch chairman Dave Muritu was sacked shortly before Christmas.
Since then three other trade unionists have been fired and lost their appeals.
Managers attempted to justify the sackings on the basis of underperformance by students.
