Mali wrong - and illegal

Jeremy Corbyn provides some interesting background to the French/British intervention in Mali (M Star Feb 6).
But he fails to mention one crucial point. France's military action is illegal under international law.
Article 42 of the UN Charter states that the security council has no right to authorise military action unless non-violent means of conflict resolution "would be inadequate or have proved to be inadequate."
Clearly this is not the situation in Mali.
