Their protests against cuts to education funding were not the only ones today.
Greek farmers mounted the first of a rolling programme of daily road blockades over plans to scrap tax breaks on fuel and farming incomes.
Tractors trundled into Thessaloniki even as students were protesting elsewhere.
And hundreds of workers descended on the Health Ministry to protest against potentially deadly cuts to budgets, hospitals and services.
