Rangers would welcome back departed stars

Wednesday 13 February 2013

Scottish football: Rangers assistant manager Kenny McDowall says he would welcome back players who quit since the club hit the rocks - but believes some would have to work hard to win over the Ibrox faithful again.

Many first-teamers chose to leave after the financial collapse of the Light Blues, who called in the administrators a year ago today.

Former captain Steven Davis said this week he would love to return to his boyhood heroes having left for Southampton last July.

McDowall said: "I know it was a wrench for him to leave. He's a top football player and I'd have him in a minute."

He added that "we would certainly welcome" the return of other departed players but warned that they might "need to win the support over again."
