'Spy' suicide investigated

The Australian government is to review Foreign Ministry handling of the case of an Australian found hanged in an Israeli prison cell in 2010.

Broadcaster ABC revealed that the man was suspected of links to Israel's Mossad spy agency.

The prisoner was named as Ben Allen but was also known as Ben Alon and was born Ben Zygier.

Foreign Minister Bob Carr let slip that some ministry officials knew in 2010 that Mr Allen had been detained - contradicting previous claims.
