Theatre workers vote on strike

Media union Bectu threatened today to ballot members over strike action at the Ambassador Theatre Group, the nation's largest theatre operator.

The union says it will go ahead if the group does not sort out concerns over its plans to move staff from weekly to monthly pay.

Bectu members are worried that it will hurt their finances.

It's the second dispute between Bectu and a major theatre company this year. In January it was in dispute with See Tickets over working conditions at the agency.

Teen killed in east London shooting

A teenager died and a man was injured after they were gunned down in east London on Saturday, Scotland Yard said today.

Witnesses said the pair were sitting in a car at the time of the shootings in Hindrey Road, Clapton, at 8.20pm.

Paramedics rushed them to hospital where the younger victim, 19, died.

Police said a 32-year-old man was in a stable condition.
