Civil Service union PCS warned the Department for Education today that it faces hundreds of unfair dismissal claims if it presses ahead with job cuts.
The union said up to 1,000 jobs were being cut despite senior managers denying they are in a "redundancy situation."

PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka said: "To claim you can cut a quarter of your staff without making redundancies really does defy belief."
