Goodyear workers stage last-ditch protest

French Goodyear workers staged a last-ditch protest today at one of the firm's factories in Amiens, northern France.

Staff at the struggling plant could soon lose their jobs after efforts to find a new buyer fell flat.

The US executive who had been in the frame to buy the factory before pulling out recently wrote to the French government and claimed that that the country's economic model was too worker-friendly and discouraged investment.
