I have been in contact with Robert recently and he sent me a link to watch the film, which my husband and I did on Christmas Eve as the mainstream TV listings were so banal.
It is a lovely film portraying a very important struggle in the difficult times of the 1926 strike but as the review says it is not black or white, good or bad, but shades of grey that allow the viewer to identify with the mining families portrayed without preaching and being worthy.
Happy Lands is part of a short season of labour and activism films showing at the Showroom Cinema, Sheffield, in March, along with the mainstream film Made in Dagenham.
The Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign is showing the Battle for Orgreave as part of this season.
We invite everyone to come along to see this remarkable film we are sponsoring which documents and reconstructs an important part of the 1984/5 miners' strike and industrial struggle history as well as the other films. And there will be a panel discussion afterwards.
