Film director Ken Loach today condemned the reported ill-treatment of a Bristol-based peace activist by his Israeli captors.
Tom Woodhead was arrested in Palestine more than a week ago and is being held in a deportation prison in Israel.
He told friends that he and two Palestinians were lined up against a wall while Israeli soldiers cocked their rifles for a "mock execution."
Mr Loach said Mr Woodhead's treatment should "disgust all right-thinking people.
"How can our government still have diplomatic relations with a state that consistently shows contempt for international law and the Geneva Convention?
"Let's channel our anger at Tom's treatment so that Israel is shunned by all who care for justice and the rule of law."
