Welcome To The Punch (15)

Directed by Eran Creevy
Thursday 14 March 2013

James McAvoy and Mark Strong go head to head in this slick and stylish British crime flick set in a hyper-real London.

McAvoy plays angry cop Max, who's hellbent on getting the man who keeps eluding him - the villainous Jacob Sternwood (Mark Strong). When Sternwood is forced to return to the capital after his son is gunned down in a heist gone bad Max sees this as his last chance to catch him.

McAvoy and Strong are electric in this captivating cat and mouse thriller and there's a superb supporting cast, includingPeter Mullan, Andrea Riseborough and David Morrissey.

Director Eran Creevy's main aim is to portray London in a completely new light and it's certainly less Guy Ritchie and more Hollywood class and grit.

Violent, but infused with unexpected humour, this is one Brit flick which certainly lives up to its title.
