Burn The Floor

Shaftesbury Theatre, London WC2
Tuesday 19 March 2013

Going along to Burn the Floor is on a par with witnessng top athletes competing against each other backed by a pulsating music soundtrack.

I felt tired just watching it.

As is often the case with shows of this kind, there is no story as such yet the huge routines led by Kristina Rihanoff and Robin Windsor, stars of the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, will keep you glued to your seat.

But the two principals don't hog the spotlight, enabling other dancers to shine on routines that range from a Viennese waltz which, danced to REM's Everybody Hurts, works surprisingly well to a frantic closing number to Creedence Clearwater Revival's Proud Mary and Ballroom Blitz by '70s glam rockers the Sweet.

Costume changes are frequent and work well on the bare stage, home to an excellent band, which allows the dancers to show off their routines to the fullest.

Runs until September 1. Box office: (020) 7379 5399.
