It's interesting that you report that Senator John McCain gave a "morale boosting" visit to the rebels in Libya on April 22. He was advocating an arming of the rebels to "break the stalemate" - something along the lines of what the US did in Afghanistan in the 1980s, when they armed the anti-Soviet forces.
I wonder if when he was in Benghazi he met with former Guantanamo detainee and alleged al-Qaida member Abu Sufian Ibrahim Ahmed Hamuda Bin Qumu, who is now one of the leaders of the resistance to Gaddafi.
Perhaps they could have reminisced about Afghanistan, where Qumu was first a US ally, then an enemy and now apparently an ally again.
This was of course the same John McCain who, along with fellow hawk and zionist Joe Lieberman, went to Tripoli in 2009, shook hands and warmly embraced Gadaffi and talked about a "strengthening relationship" between the US and Libya.
Hypocrisy is a word which really does not do justice to the actions of John McCain and the US political establishment.
