Battleship (12A)

Directed by Peter Berg
Sunday 15 April 2012

The Japanese join forces with the US navy to fight an armada of aliens off the Hawaiian coast in this all-guns-blazing film version of the game of battleships.

Directed by Peter Berg it takes no prisoners. It is big, it is loud and packed with explosive and spectacular action scenes while paying homage to every conceivable blockbuster from Deep Impact and Independence Day to Transformers and Titanic.

It is quite jingoistic and very heartfelt but with its tongue firmly in its cheek.

It features an eclectic cast which is very easy on the eye which includes Taylor Kitsch (John Carter), Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood), Liam Neeson and the singer Rihanna.

It is totally silly but massive fun and a great night out.
