Villa fine trio over night on the town

Midfielders Fabien Delph and Chris Herd and central defender James Collins were involved in the incident hours after the club had held their annual awards ceremony at Villa Park.

The incident occurred at 2.45am — just five days before relegation-threatened Villa’s crucial home game against Tottenham on Sunday.

All three players have apologised via a club statement.

Aston Villa are currently 15th in the Premier League, three points above the drop zone and remain possible candidates for relegation given their recent poor form.

Elsewhere in the battle for survival, 17th-placed QPR host Stoke on Sunday, hoping to add to recent home wins over Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham, and pull themselves away from the bottom three.

Rs boss Mark Hughes will need to get his troops firing again after a sorry 6-1 drubbing last weekend at the hands of local rivals Chelsea.

Hughes will also be wary that his side’s final league match is away at Manchester City, who have not lost at home all season.

Bolton, placed 18th, take on West Brom at home, with Owen Coyle’s men looking to bounce back from a mid-week 4-1 loss at home to Tottenham.

Steve Kean’s Blackburn, currently 19th, host 16th-placed Wigan on Monday night, while already relegated Wolves host Everton at Molineux on Sunday.
