The shipyard painter, political activist and razor-sharp cartoonist Bob Starrett has just written a new book The Way I See It on his eventful life and times. Below we reprint one of his stories and review an essential read
The old gang are back for a class reunion befitting the American Pie franchise.
It has been 13 years since we first met Jim, Michelle, Oz, Kevin, Finch and Stifler.
They are all older and wiser now except for Stifler who hasn't changed one bit.
At 30 he is still chasing 18-year-old school girls but now it is just creepy and wrong.
Even so this is a nostalgic trip down memory lane for the characters and for American Pie fans.
It is full of nods and winks to the original film so those who have never seen it may not appreciate the warmth or the humour.
The original cast of Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Seann William Scott are all back along with Jennifer Coolidge as Stifler's mom and Eugene Levy as Jim's embarrassing dad.
It feels like being reunited with much loved old friends.
There are some great visual gags and all in all it is a lot of fun and hugely entertaining.
It also features a nice twist which I won't divulge.
It rounds this franchise off nicely which, like the characters, we now seem to have outgrown.
