Bands are fine but mindless noise is not

Thursday 15 November 2012

I am sure that Dave Vincent and the Greater Manchester Samba Band (M Star November 12) contributed a much more acceptable sound than the inchoate noise of whistles mindlessly blown.

For I too found the whistles brutally irritating when I, and others, were trying to have intelligent conversations with like-minded marchers and hand out the complimentary Morning Stars.

I was sorely tempted to abandon my generally peaceful intentions, when whistle-blowers seemed to deliberately stifle meaningful conversation - they were no better than the worst capitalist gutter rags.

Bands and chants, Yes. Cacophony, No.
