Cricket: Vernon Philander ripped through the New Zealand order today as South Africa began the two-Test series in the manner befitting the world’s number one-ranked side.

Philander grabbed five wickets for just seven runs as the tourists fell for 45 after opting to bat on the opening day at Newlands.
