Mr Johnson said that he never conducted an investigation of Mr Lewis, as he was no longer on the payroll following his resignation over media claims of financial irregularities.
He has now appointed him as a senior mentoring adviser, observing that he is a great bloke.
This provides an intriguing insight. Previously Mr Johnson felt somewhat insecure in his position at the Greater London Authority (GLA) and felt it necessary to, without apparent evidence, dispatch this deputy.
Now he feels that he is in a much more robust position and believes that he can reinstate Mr Lewis regardless of GLA or media comment.
This appears to inform me that as Mr Johnson's ego inflates exponentially to match his girth so the numbers of those willing to work with him disappears.
I wonder if we can draw any parallels with the Con-Dem government which also appears to display all of the same excess of hubris that are synonymous with Mr Johnson?
