Britain's £21m aid package to Syria hides sinister motives

Tuesday 05 February 2013

Justine Greening's pledge for an extra £21 million in aid to Syria seems all very humane.

However did the British government care for the dead Iraqis following the 2003 invasion and the millions of people who were made refugees?

Did we condemn Israel for its recent assault on Gaza and send humanitarian aid to Palestinians? This shows a huge inconsistency.

The West and its allies have flooded weapons into Syria in a bid to hijack the uprising. What started comparable to Egypt has now spiralled out of control.

Britain, US, Israel and Saudi Arabia absolutely oppose democracy there. They want stability, meaning oppression and unrestricted control of resources.

Western powers have backed dictators for almost a century. Britain and the US organised a coup in 1953 to topple the Iranian democratically-elected Prime Minister and installed the Shah.

Since the 1979 revolution the US has vowed to regain control. Toppling Assad is a stepping stone to this end.

China and Russia are well aware of this and of our appalling wars since 2001.
