Racing with Farringdon: Back born-again Petit Robin to eclipse field on Super Saturday

Formerly a more than useful chaser, he has resurrected his career this season over hurdles and now runs off a career high of 159. However, he has struck up such a rousing partnership with amateur Nico de Boinville I can see him running another huge race from the front at a massive price.

Wishfull Thinking can land the 3.00, while I fancy Fago at Warwick (2.40) and Mawaakef at Lingfield (4.15).

Super Saturday may be at Newbury but Hennessy Day at Leopardstown is equally enthralling, none more so than the big race where Flemenstar faces Sir Des Champs at 3.20.

They finished third and fourth respectively in the Lexus Chase here and I expect the form to be confirmed.

Flemenstar will arguably be much better over two-and-a-half miles, but this easy three should be within his compass on less testing ground.

Sir Des Champs will be no pushover and a clear round should see the two battle all the way home with Peter Casey's charge just given the nod.

The other fascinating race is the Spring Juvenile Hurdle at 1.15 when the cream of Ireland's four-year-old crop clash.

Blood Cotil and Our Conor have been impressive in four unbeaten outings between them this year, but they may not be able to deal with Diakali.

The Willie Mullins-trained charge may not have cleared his obstacles as efficiently as his rivals but his engine is obviously top class as he powered home by no less than 28 lengths from Flaxen Flare.

If he wins this trial in decisive fashion I expect he could be trading at around 3/1 for the Triumph Hurdle on the Friday of the festival.

Finally, in our second look at a Cheltenham Festival race, I am very keen on Bobs Worth for the Gold Cup on the Friday.

His success in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury last year was immense.

Nicky Henderson's charge remains unbeaten at Cheltenham and will surely adore the likely better ground as well.

Good ground would help Flight Lieutenant, while I can see 33/1 shot Katenko in the mix, especially if we get a bit of give come March 15. But Bobs Worth is a young horse going places and can prove too strong for his rivals.
