Spain's PM claims country's on the mend

EmailDelusional Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy claimed today that his country was on the mend after knocking a couple of percentage points off the budget deficit.
Mr Rajoy patted himself on the back as he told MPs the budget deficit was under 7 per cent of falling GDP - down from 8.9 per cent the year before.
"Spain's head is out of the water," he said.
"Nobody would have bet on Spain a year ago but now nobody doubts that Spain will come out ahead."
Mr Rajoy has broken all his major campaign pledges since coming to office in December 2011, with an extra million people thrown out of work thanks to his crippling brand of austerity.
Opposition figures reiterated their calls for the PM to resign.
His governing Popular Party is mired in a corruption scandal over allegations that senior figures - including Mr Rajoy - pocketed payments from the once-booming construction industry.
