EmailCricket: Ex-Australia captain Ricky Ponting ruled out making an Ashes return after agreeing to join Surrey this summer.
Ponting, whose two-month deal starts in June, said yesterday that it would be “strange” to be absent as the two nations renew their rivalry later this year.
“At some stages only a few hundred miles, or a couple of hours, away there will be a Test match going on between Australia and England and I won’t be a part of it,” he said.
