Well, I felt a little better today with £569 received to break another £1,000 barrier on the road to our target.

Many thanks to two Unite Branches in Birmingham and Sheffield who gave £200 each.

Thanks also to the North West District CPB, which collected £20 at its last meeting, and our loyal Brampton reader who sends in a donation every single day.

Standing orders yielded £35 and online donations were steady at £58 today.

I will also make mention of a donation of £22.50 paid at the Communist Party public stall in Cardiff by members of Cor Cochian Caerdydd who were singing in support of the Campaign Against the Arms Trade in Cardiff Market.

Supporters from Occupy Cardiff also visited the stall to thank the Morning Star for carrying the labour movement appeal in last Saturday’s edition demanding that the charges against their supporters Jason Simons and Eric Jinks be dropped.

This demonstrates how important public sales of the Morning Star can be in mobilising support for those in struggle and in forging the links that will be necessary if we are to be able to resist the attacks on working-class living standards.

May I appeal to many more of you to rebuild our public work in support of the Morning Star.

We will organise extra copies to be sent to you, so let’s see many more weekend pitches in towns and cities across Britain, each of which could swell our daily totals and keep the Morning Star out there in the hands of all those involved in the mighty battles now being waged against the policies of this pernicious coalition.
