A pathetic state of affairs

Tuesday 17 November 2009

When I read about Gordon Brown's new powers to restrict bankers' bonuses (M Star November 15) my heart almost burst with despair.

What does it say about our society when legislation has to be imposed from stopping the greedy get greedier?

What about the morality of the whole argument. Is there any fragment of common decency in the financial world?

After all we've seen and witnessed, both here and in the United States, you would think that some of these sharks would show some remorse for all the pain they've inflicted on ordinary people whose savings and pensions have been obliterated by cold-hearted double dealing.

But no, they just carry on with the same immoral agenda of screwing the poor. And the best that this deplorable government can come up with is a bunch of so-called "new measures" which will make no difference anyway.

If I were Gordon Brown I would demand that any spiv involved in the decimation of public funds should be made to go in front of the populace and apologise, followed by a lengthy spell behind bars.
