Delegates at the National Union of Journalists conference has unanimously backed activist journalists working for online news magazine Indymedia in their fight against police raids.
NUJ new media industrial council delegate Tony Gosling pointed that reporters for Indymedia often broke news that "is censored by the mainstream media."
And Central London delegate, Morning Star chief subeditor Charley Allan (pictured), explained that police agents had even seized an Indymedia internet server in "a clear attack on reporters and press freedom.
"Just as NUJ delegates are journalists who have become union activists, those working for Indymedia are activists who have become journalists and they need our support," he stressed.
