I was disgusted to read that police in Peshawar broke up a ceremony between businessman Iqbal Khan and his partner Rani, a transgender woman (M Star May 27).
They are to be charged with attempted sodomy and could face a jail term of up to seven years. These people have done no wrong. All they are guilty of is having a loving relationship and getting on with their lives. That, it seems, is a "crime."
Can I suggest that we stop invading other people's countries, stop decimating the meagre resources in the world's poorest areas and divert all energies to bring real freedom to the people of Pakistan, by exerting government pressure to live and let live and dispel with this antiquated thought process.
