I've been a trade unionist all my working life and, despite the shackles placed upon the movement by successive governments, I have never been in any doubt that the movement itself is the prime weapon against capitalist carpet bombing of everything we hold dear.
That is why I'm appealing to people like Bob Crow not to walk out at the TUC Congress if David Cameron takes the stage.
This is an ideal opportunity for serious debate and exchange and to send a message to the heart of the Con-Dems that members of trade unions will not be blown out of the water by contemptuous government policy, we are here to stay and, yes, we have the balls to argue our case firmly and decisively, leaving the PM in no doubt whatsoever as to the strength of union opinion.
