In particular the fourth paragraph from the end of the article, which states "it would be a world in which part-time work is supported by government benefits," caught my attention.
In fact part-time work is already supported while in receipt of incapacity benefit under the permitted work rules, which state that a person can work for less than 16 hours per week on average and earn up to £93 gross.
I myself work part-time as a cleaner, which gives me a sense of contributing to the economy and of course the extra money is most helpful.
My real line of work was engineering, in which I served an apprenticeship, but I am not well enough to pursue this occupation at present.
