Portugal boss Queiroz faces six-month ban

Thursday 02 September 2010

Football: Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz has been handed a six-month suspension after the country's Sports Institute ruled he had disrupted an anti-doping test prior to the World Cup.

The institute ruled that Queiroz had insulted an anti-doping team sent to test the Portugal squad before the tournament in South Africa and that his aggressive behaviour had disrupted their work.

The coach had denied any wrongdoing.

However no player was found to have been using banned substances.

A ban would rule Queiroz out of Portugal's first four Euro 2012 qualifiers - leading to speculation that he could lose his job.
