Drivers for East Midland Trains will walk out on Tuesday in a row over bosses' plans to "cheapen" their pension funds.
Members of the Aslef union were left furious by the company's decision to cut pension fund contributions for both workers and the employer from July.
They have already staged two 24-hour walkouts and are planning further action on Tuesday, on Thursday and on May 15 and 17.
Aslef has arranged to meet the employers on Thursday to try to the dispute.
East Midlands Trains said it was "disappointed" that talks would not be held until after the planned strikes.
The company added it was planning to run more trains than on previous strike days, but said there will be a reduced service and warned passengers to expect delays.
