I agree with Keith Flett (M Star January 4) that 1963 was indeed a seminal year in the history of Britain.
But would it be remiss of me to point out that Sir Alec Douglas Hume did have one redeeming feature?
He remains the only British prime minister to have played first-class cricket.
Perhaps in 2013 we'll see Imran Khan become cricket's second head-of-government first-class cricketer?
