Campaigners fighting to save services a Manchester hospital won a temporary reprieve today.

Councillors have referred a decision to axe services at Trafford General Hospital to Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

NHS bosses want to axe Trafford's A&E unit and reduce intensive care and children's services.

A meeting of the joint all-party Trafford and Manchester Council's health scrutiny committee voted unanimously to refer the plans to the Health Secretary, delaying the closures for six months.
