Fulham survive but Brum and Reading drop

Premier League: FULHAM beat the drop at Fratton Park on Sunday by beating Portsmouth 1-0, thanks to a 76th-minute Danny Murphy strike.

That goal meant that Reading's efforts in thumping Derby 4-0 at Pride Park, as well as Birmingham's 4-1 thrashing of Blackburn, were both in vain.

Derby County had long since been relegated.

Reading's goalscorers were James Harper, Leroy Lita, Kevin Doyle and Dave Kitson.

Birmingham struck through David Murphy, Cameron Jerome twice and Fabrice Muamba.
