It sounds like we are living back in the Victorian era

Wednesday 02 May 2012

Your article (M Star April 28) highlighting that the recession is forcing teachers to report some children arriving at school dirty, in poor clothing and hungry is appalling.

You then add that the coalition is looking to remove free school meals from hundreds of thousands of children and some academy schools have put in vending machines.

It makes you wonder what type of society we now live in.

Another report over the weekend confirmed that the elite rich list of billionaires and millionaires in this class-ridden country saw their wealth increase by 5 per cent in comparison.

It sounds like an essay from Victorian times but it's not.

Children going hungry and billionaires stuffing feasts - so this is the new politics that the Prime Minister and his deputy preached on the 10 Downing Street lawn two years ago .
