Cardiff fans’ rage at shirt change idea

Wednesday 09 May 2012

Football: A Cardiff City supporters’ group has slammed proposals to alter the club’s colours from blue to red.

The Welsh oufit’s Malaysian owners have said they will invest £100 million on the team, a new training ground and increasing the stadium’s capacity — provided they are allowed to change the club’s kit colour, as well as its logo from a bluebird to a dragon.

Cardiff City Supporters Trust called the move a “fait accompli” and expressed anger at both the proposal and lack of consultation.

Trust chairman Tim Hartley said: “This is going to happen whatever us supporters think about it. It’s great news about the investment, very disappointing about the change of colour and the change of the logo and the lack of consultation with fans.”

Vice-chair Tracey Marsh told BBC Radio Wales: “I feel like they’ve got us over a barrel and we are not going to take this lying down.”
