Police probe G4S contract

Tuesday 24 July 2012

Concerned chief constables cast doubt today on multimillion-pound plans to outsource police office jobs to G4S following its spectacular Olympic failings.

The plans include switching 1,100 roles, including human resources, IT and finance, to the security contractor.

But the heads of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Police convened a special meeting to discuss concerns about the company's performance and its ability to deliver.

They said: "Having considered the concerns raised by the chief constables the group has commissioned further work to explore the ability of the contract and contractor to meet the specific needs of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire,"

They will report their findings in mid-August.
